Broker's Comments

The French boatyard Amel has been building sailing yachts of various sizes since 1967. Their yachts are known worldwide for being specifically designed, built, and equipped for long-distance ocean cruising.

A total of 173 Amel 54 yachts were built between 2005 and 2011.

ULTIMO is hull number 165 – a 2010 model launched in 2011. As one of the final yachts produced in this series, ULTIMO features the upgraded “Gold Line” specification, offering an enhanced luxury interior and upgraded equipment.

The most distinctive feature of the Amel 54 is its hull construction. It is built as a single laminate using a specialized fiberglass mat developed by the yard (see technical specifications for details). The hull and deck are laminated together to form a single monolithic unit, with all bulkheads laminated directly to both hull and deck for exceptional strength and watertight integrity.

In addition to structural rigidity, several watertight bulkheads – including a fully insulated engine room – significantly reduce onboard noise. This compartmentalized layout mirrors commercial vessel design, drastically increasing survivability in the event of a collision.

Designed around a deep, well-protected centre cockpit with a fixed hardtop, the yacht allows the crew to handle all sail operations without stepping onto the open deck. The ketch rig offers versatile sail plan combinations, making shorthanded sailing straightforward and manageable.

Every Amel 54 leaves the factory fully equipped for passage-making, reflecting the yard’s strict quality control and focus on reliability. Ultimately, this underscores Amel’s core philosophy: unyielding structural integrity and safety to keep the crew secure and comfortable in all weather conditions. For anyone planning extended offshore voyages in comfort, ULTIMO stands out in a class of its own.

Purchased in 2015, ULTIMO has had only two owners. Thanks to regular servicing and continuous upgrades, the yacht is in excellent condition and presents far younger than her age suggests. Though fully equipped by her current owners for another long-distance voyage, a change in plans means ULTIMO is now completely turn-key and ready for her next owner to set sail immediately.

Owner's Comments

Amel stands for Safety, Comfort, and Simplicity.

The core concept of the Amel 54 is that the vessel can be operated safely and comfortably by a cruising couple, regardless of the weather conditions. We ourselves have sailed across three oceans and have experienced rough weather, but we always felt comfortable thanks to features like the deep, protected centre cockpit, solid guardrails, and systems designed to be operated without leaving the safety of the helm. The boat is robust and remarkably reliable in all conditions. We have always arrived at new destinations around the world in top shape.

This is the ultimate world cruiser.

We have owned ULTIMO for 11 years and sailed over 33,000 NM. The boat is meticulously maintained. The engine is serviced every 350 hours, the sails are serviced every year, and the boat has been upgraded with more than €70,000 in improvements over the last couple of years. ULTIMO is probably the best-maintained and most well-upgraded Amel 54 on the market, ready to take you world cruising.

To us, ULTIMO is not just a boat; it’s an adventure, it’s a love story, and we will forever be grateful for the way it allowed us to experience the world while always keeping us safe.
