Broker's Comments

The Hallberg-Rassy 34 is a well-regarded cruising yacht known for her balanced sailing characteristics, solid construction and long-term durability. Designed with offshore sailing in mind, she combines comfortable motion at sea with predictable handling and a reassuring helm feel.

In a review published by Svenska Dagbladet (May 6, 2000), the Hallberg-Rassy 34 was noted for her good performance in light winds, pleasant weight in motion and excellent balance. With close to 40 percent ballast ratio and a deep lead keel, the review highlights her low centre of gravity and strong stiffness, particularly in more demanding conditions.

An earlier test by Båtnytt (No. 12, 1992) focused on the yacht’s construction and functionality, praising the quality of the interior joinery, the well-executed laminated structures and the practical engine installation with good ventilation and sound insulation. The test also underlined the yacht’s manoeuvrability and consistent response to trim, describing her as a capable cruising yacht with confident handling.

Hallberg-Rassy 34, KINGARA has been owned by a sailor with extensive experience of refitting and long-distance cruising, including multiple offshore passages on previous Hallberg-Rassy yachts. Since purchasing the yacht in Sweden in 2023, the owner has carried out a comprehensive refit aimed at improving reliability, efficiency and ease of handling, while keeping the yacht’s original character and layout intact.

The yacht has previously been used only in Swedish waters and stored indoors during winters. During her current ownership, systems have been upgraded using proven solutions and high-quality components, with a clear focus on practical cruising rather than cosmetic changes.

She has been actively sailed and tested in Scandinavian waters and is described as easy to handle, well balanced and suitable for both coastal and extended cruising. The yacht is offered for sale due to the owner’s intention to move to a larger yacht.

Owner's Comments

After an Atlantic loop in a Hallberg-Rassy 36, I bought the Hallberg-Rassy 34 for smaller trips in the Baltics. In the summers of 2024 and 2025 I sailed around the entire Swedish coast.

I was very impressed with the performance of the yacht, even in lighter winds. She is set up for short-handed sailing and small crews, and is very easy to handle, especially thanks to the furling main and tiller steering.

The yacht fits into the smallest harbours, yet is still big enough and well equipped for multi-day offshore trips. I have equipped her with a generous and secure anchoring setup, and all essential onboard systems and core functions were renewed between 2023 and 2024.
