The Hallberg-Rassy 48 stands as a true bluewater classic, crafted by the renowned Hallberg-Rassy shipyard on Sweden’s Island of Orust. Evolved from the highly regarded Hallberg-Rassy 46, the 48 model maintains its predecessor’s spirit while incorporating key enhancements. Produced between 2004 and 2020, a total of 90 hulls were delivered. Though only slightly longer overall, the 48 benefits from a 1.35-meter increase in waterline length, significantly boosting sailing performance.
Hallberg-Rassy 48, BLUE is a MkII version which was introduced in 2013 and improved on 15 points compared to the highly acclaimed predecessor 48 MkI. Hallberg-Rassy 48, BLUE was delivered in 2020 to her first owner and was purchased by her current, second owner in 2023 specifically for the ARC in 2024. BLUE received several updates and additional equipment in order to be ready for the rally, which she successfully finished in December 2024. After a few months of cruising in the beautiful Caribbean and a professional yacht transport (onboard transport vessel) back across the Atlantic, BLUE is now back in Sweden, located at her original home, at the Hallberg-Rassy yard in Ellös.
Designed for ease of handling by a small crew, the yacht features a signature centre cockpit that is both safe and well protected. The hard top offers great protection in weather conditions. The enlarged coachroof windows brighten the interior and provide improved visibility to the outside.
Inside, the layout offers generous accommodation including a spacious aft owner’s cabin, a longitudinal galley, a well-appointed navigation station, and two guest cabins forward. Two separate heads, each with a dedicated shower area, complete the layout, ensuring comfort and practicality for extended cruising. The interior is finished in European oak and all cabins have air conditioning.
If you are looking for a super nice and fully capable ocean cruiser be sure not to miss Halberg-Rassy 48MkII, BLUE!
BLUE was acquired with the sole purpose of an Atlantic crossing with a small family crew. Being delivered during Covid (2020) she was very lightly used and relatively well equipped, but as an experienced and extremely conservative owner / skipper, a comprehensive preparation process was started professionally, supported by Orust Yacht Service in Sweden and Rolnautic in Las Palmas.
No expense was spared to prepare for a safe and comfortable crossing. The renowned HR 48 (Mk II) delivered fully to expectations taking the crew across to St Lucia in 19 days. With several alternative sail configurations including wing-on-wing main/genoa, Parasailor and Code Zero, the yacht basically sailed itself across through a range of changing wind and wave combinations. Whether you are planning an ocean crossing or cruising in local waters, BLUE will keep you and your crew/family safe and comfortable, and she comes highly recommended and ready to cast off on any adventure, including a circumnavigation.
She is offered for sale as our family and work situation does not allow for another trip anytime soon, and the owner already has several other yachts with limited usage. She is unused since her return from the Caribbean and will be rigged down, stored and taken exceptionally well care of at Orust Yacht Service until she is sold.
