The Hallberg-Rassy 49 is a bluewater cruiser that was introduced in 1982, of rugged construction, built for extended cruising and offering great comfort both inside and on deck, with great storage capacity and good sailing characteristics. A total of 89 hulls were delivered from this well-known yard in Orust.
Hallberg-Rassy 49, AMFITRITE is a unique Hallberg-Rassy 49, in many ways. She was the first 49 built – hull #1. She has no teak deck. The first owner decided to extend the aft part of the yacht in order to create a separate steering / sailing area and a separate spacious centre cockpit, allowing crew and guests to comfortably enjoy a sailing trip without having sheets and winches ‘in the way’. The design was probably inspired by the rather common Swan designs with two separate cockpits. Sune Carlsson yard in Stockholm did the rebuilding. In order to make the yacht easy to sail for a couple during long passages, the design includes a clever steering area in the well protected guest centre cockpit, where you find a throttle, autopilot, bow thruster controls, and the primary winches are located just behind the guest cockpit.
AMFITRITE comes with a conventional mainsail. The genoa is mounted on a manual furling system from Selden. For many years, AMFITRITE has been serviced, updated and winter stored at Vindö Marin.
The inside offers the typical Hallberg-Rassy design, with a lot of storage throughout the boat. Galley and navigation area are located directly at the entrance stairs. There is a huge engine room and an aft cabin with a double berth and a single berth (perfect for ocean crossings) and of course an en-suite heads with separate shower compartment. In the saloon there are two sofas and a solid table with folding sides and a pilot berth to starboard. In front of the mast bulkhead is a bunk bed cabin, a head with separate shower compartment and a forward cabin with a v-berth.
The first owner sailed the yacht in Scandinavia and in the Mediterranean. The second (current) owner enjoyed sailing in Scandinavia, mainly in Swedish waters since they bought the yacht in approx. 2001.
If you are looking for a solid and well-built Scandinavian +50 foot yacht, continuously updated, suitable for bluewater cruising and long-time live aboard, AMFITRITE is definitely worth to checking out.
