The Najad 380 is one of the most successful models from the boatyard based on the island of Orust. The yacht is a further development of its predecessor, the Najad 373, and was designed by Judel/Vrolijk & Co.
The Najad 380 offers a well-protected and relatively deep centre cockpit, a fixed windscreen, teak deck, and an integrated stern bathing platform. The hull and deck are constructed using a sandwich laminate (Divinycell), which, combined with longitudinal stringers and laminated bulkheads, results in a relatively light and strong construction. The yacht has a deep bilge, externally mounted lead keel, and a skeg-hung rudder.
Directly adjacent to the companionway is the navigation station, a bathroom with shower, and a longitudinal galley. There is a spacious aft cabin and a guest cabin in the bow, both with double berths. The saloon features a table with folding leaves and two settees. The interior is made of matte-varnished mahogany.
One testament to the Najad 380’s ocean-going capabilities is English sailor Jane Socrates’ 339-day nonstop solo circumnavigation of the globe aboard her Najad 380, NEREIDA.
Najad 380, SEA-GULL is a fine and well-maintained yacht. The current (second) owner purchased the yacht through Berthon Scandinavia in 2021. SEA-GULL has been used for family sailing during the summer months along Sweden’s east and west coasts. The yacht has always been stored indoors during the winter.
The Najad 380 embodies all the hallmarks of an Orust-built yacht, and SEA-GULL is a beautiful example – you are warmly welcome to book a viewing!
It is time for us to part with our beloved yacht as our family continues to grow and we now need more space for children and grandchildren.
We purchased this exceptional Najad in 2021 from her first owner, who took delivery from the Najad shipyard in Henån, Orust, in 2007. She was presented to us in near-new condition then, and remains so today. The original owner used the yacht very sparingly, primarily for short cruises between the shipyard area and his summer residence a few nautical miles further north along Sweden’s west coast.
Since acquiring her, we have continued to care for the yacht with great attention and have made ongoing upgrades to maintain and enhance her performance, safety, and comfort. Significant investments include a comprehensive modernization of the navigation and communication systems with the latest generation of Raymarine equipment, including chart plotter, autopilot, AIS, and VHF. The sail wardrobe has been renewed with quality sails from Elvström Sails. The hull has been professionally blasted and epoxy treated for long-term protection, the teak deck has undergone a careful refurbishment, and the manual toilet has been replaced with a modern electric system. The cockpit enclosure and sprayhood have also been replaced with an updated design, creating a larger and more comfortable protected cockpit area when weather conditions require it.
During our ownership, the yacht has primarily been used for holiday cruising along Sweden’s east coast for a few weeks each season. She has been winter stored indoors at a professional boatyard and maintained to the high standards expected of a yacht of this quality.
The Najad 380 is an exceptionally well-built and capable cruising yacht, combining safety, comfort, and sailing performance in a way that has made Najad renowned among sailors worldwide. She is equally suited to relaxed family cruising in the archipelago as she is to longer offshore passages for those with more ambitious cruising plans.
We hope her next owners will enjoy and cherish her as much as we have and create many wonderful memories aboard in the years to come.
