The Gefion 73 is an elegant custom sailing yacht with classic lines, designed, constructed and built in Sweden. She was manufactured according to the American Bureau of Shipping’s standards for offshore racing yachts. The hull is constructed from fibreglass with a PVC core and is equipped with a centerboard that allows variable draft between about 1.4m – 4.5m.
This yacht has sailed twice across the Atlantic with excellent form. She can be sailed easily and efficiently by a couple and offers comfortable accommodation for 6-8 people
Gefion 73 is fractionally rigged with a carbon fibre mast, 3 spreaders and 1 set of jumpers, rod rig with hydraulic aft stay tensioners and hydraulic outhaul. She comes with mainsail, jib and gennaker. All sail handling is done from the center cockpit with 12 winches placed within reach of the helmsman.
On deck, you will find double anchor systems in the bow with two well-dimensioned windlasses and two Bruce anchors. There is also a windlass with a Bruce anchor on the stern deck. A light coloured, non-skid paint on deck gives good grip in all weathers. There are two large lazarettes on the aft deck. A total of 16 deck hatches contribute to good ventilation and light.
From the cockpit, there are two entrances into the yacht. The aft companionway leads to the yacht’s navigation station. Here you will also find a workshop, a cabin with double berth, toilet, washing machine and dryer as well as a passage to the aft entrance to the longitudinal galley on the starboard side and the two guest cabins to port. The forward entrance leads down to the large saloon, which has two sofas and tables. From the saloon, looking aft, you will find the galley and the two guest cabins, which have a shared heads with shower. In the bow is the captain’s cabin with office, bathroom and a large “walk in closet” and two beds.
Gefion 73 comes very well equipped. Complete navigation equipment includes radar, autopilot, SSB radio, Iridium satellite phone and navigation computer, to name a few. The engine is a Perkins 215hp which together with the 25hp hydraulic folding bow thruster provides good power and makes the yacht very manageable, even in tight spaces. On board there is also a diesel generator, inverters and chargers with high capacity, large battery bank, air conditioning in all cabins, heaters, watermaker, “full size” washer and dryer, large fridges, dishwasher and 4-burner gas stove…
In addition to her excellent sailing performance, Gefion 73 offers very comfortable accommodation for those who plan to live on board for longer periods, whether at sea, in port or at anchor.
