Broker's Comments

The Najad 511, designed by Judel/Vrolijk & Co, is a fast yet comfortable bluewater cruising yacht. With her fine, elegant bow, deep bilge, bolted lead keel and skeg-hung rudder, she combines strong performance with excellent seakeeping and offshore confidence. She is a true mile muncher – a yacht designed to cross oceans safely, comfortably and with the classic quality for which Najad is renowned.

RED ROO is the last Najad 511 delivered in 2010 by the original Najadvarvet. At the time, I worked as project manager at the yard and was involved in both the manufacturing and launching of the yacht. We specified RED ROO in close cooperation with the buyer, the current owner who is a master mariner and an experienced sailor, with the aim of creating a yacht capable of undertaking all types of sailing adventures, with a strong focus on safety. Sail handling was carefully designed to be simple and efficient, making her ideal for single handed and/or short-handed sailing. She is equipped with a hydraulic in-mast furling system, two hydraulic furling headsails, four electric winches, and hydraulic boom vang and backstay controls, all operated conveniently from the cockpit. Under sail, RED ROO is smooth, balanced and exceptionally easy to handle.

Below deck, the mahogany interior is both practical and inviting, with excellent storage space throughout. The owner’s aft cabin features a centred double berth and private en-suite head with shower. The layout includes a longitudinal galley, a dedicated navigation station and a comfortable saloon with a sofa and two armchairs – an ideal place to relax after a long day at sea. Forward of the main bulkhead, which is laminated to both hull and deck for additional structural strength, are two guest cabins: a forward cabin with a V-berth and a portside cabin with a generous double berth, together with a guest head and separate shower.

RED ROO is still being sailed by her first owner couple who have enjoyed sailing in Scandinavia, the UK, Northern and Western Europe and in the Mediterranean. She has been well maintained and continuously updated throughout her life. She is a superb yacht, well worth inspection by anyone seeking a well-kept, ocean-capable cruiser that is fully prepared for extended offshore adventures.
