Broker's Comments

Malö 37 is a solid-built cruising yacht, perfectly suited for a couple or a family that appreciate spending lots of time afloaft. No matter if you are sailing or anchored, the Malö 37 is a very comfortable and functional yacht.

Malö 37 PENGUIN was delivered in 2009 to its current (first) owner. Since 2011 it has been used for family sailing in Scandinavia, in the Baltic and on the Swedish west coast. PENGUIN has always been professionally maintained – which is clearly notable by her very impressive general condition – and in recent years has been stored inside during wintertime at Båtvårdsvarvet in Svineviken.

The relatively large aft cockpit offers, with its folding table and easy handling cockpit tent, a comfortable area for socialising. The fixed windscreen together with the sprayhood, provides very good protection in rainy and cold weather condition.

PENGUIN is equipped with a fractional rigged in-mast furling mast. There are four Andersen winches for sail handling. The mainsheet track is mounted on the characteristic Malö targa arch, providing a clutter free cockpit.

The layout includes two cabins with double berths, and a large saloon with two sofas and an extendable table. The galley is located to port of the entrance. The navigation area and the head with shower is located to starboard of the entrance. The amount of storage throughout the yacht is amazing. The interior is built in mahogany to the highest Malö finish.

PENGUIN’S technical equipment includes autopilot, radar, bow thruster and a 39hp Yanmar engine with shaft drive. Most of the equipment onboard is original yet in good condition since it has always been carefully serviced and maintained.

PENGUIN is available for viewing at our showing dock in Henån. If you are looking for a really well-kept Malö 37, please contact Berthon Scandinavia.

Owner's Comments

PENGUIN was supplied new in 2009, and I kept her in Lymington UK for the first 18 months of her life. In 2009 and 2010 she was at the Southampton Boat Show for display by Malö UK. In 2011, I brought her out to Sweden and she has been in the Baltic or on the Swedish west coast since then.

Each year she has been laid up ashore under cover, most often indoors, and has been in commission only from May to August or September.

Together we have cruised in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and the Baltic States. She is a comfortable and easily managed boat and around half of the time I have sailed her single-handed. This is easy to do with her in-mast furling, reliable autopilot and well-sheltered watch position under the sprayhood by the chart plotter – and her bow thruster greatly helps shorthanded berthing.
I chose her for the quality of her build and finish, and because she maximises comfort for 2 to 4 people, elbow-room and practicality (such as ease of moving round the cockpit, enormous storage lockers, and large water and fuel tank capacity) rather than maximizing the number of sleeping berths.

After 14 happy years I am selling her as I am intending to retire from sailing.
